Qatar Foundation’s Twitter and Facebook accounts hacked by Syrian Electronic Army

Online hackavist, hardcore supporters of Syrian President Bashar Al Assad from Syrian Electronic Army have hacked the official Twitter and Facebook pages of The Qatar Foundation today.  

The hack was announced by the Syrian Electronic Army itself on its Forum and Facebook account, claiming that both of the accounts were hacked by them against the Qatari support behind the bloodshed in Syria. 

The Army also released a video on Youtube of clippings proving that both of the accounts were hacked by them.

After being hacked, the Twitter account was showing dozens of tweets from the hackers. The last message sent at 3:08pm, links a YouTube video showing a protester holding up a sign saying “USA, EU, Italy, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey support terrorists” while US Secretary of State John Kerry speaks.

The Facebook page of Qatar Foundation with 148,158 likes and Twitter 51,224 followers were suspended by respective sites quickly after being compromised.

The representative apologized for the Tweets and assured that accounts will be back and operational once regained.

Syrian Electronic Army is known for their high profile hacks, in past the same group hacked the official AFP Photo Twitter accountSky News Arabia’s Twitter and FacebookIsraeli News Site Haaretz‘s email accounts, Al Jazeera news channel website along with the Al Jazeera Mobile service.
