Syrian Electronic Army Hacks Barak Obama’s Facebook and Twitter Accounts

The pro – Assad hackers from Syrian Electronic Army managed to hack official Facebook and Social media accounts of American President Barak Obama and redirecting his official site (barackobama.com) to another page showing ”Hacked by SEA”.

Obama’s website was redirected a couple of days ago while his social media accounts were hacked on Monday. SEA managed to compromise URL shortening service used by Obama Facebook and Twitter accounts.

SoftPedia reports that the Syrian Electronic Army made it so that all the links from Barack Obama’s messages led users to a 24-minute video called “Syria facing terrorism.”

  • We are watching you, Obama Bin Laden,” the Syrian Electronic Army’s members said. “Thank you Obama for redirecting people to the SEA website.
  • Obama doesn’t have any ethical issues with spying on the world, so we took it upon ourselves to return the favor,” they added. “Obama spent so much money ravaging Syria with terror, he can’t even pay his bills.
  • We accessed many Obama campaign emails accounts to assess his terrorism capabilities. They are quite high #SEA,” the hackers wrote on Twitter.

SEA told  Mashable that it was able to hack a eight email accounts, allowing them an access to Blue State Digital (BSD), a media strategy and technology firm that handled the Obama campaign between 2008 and 2012, and ShortSwitch, the URL shortening service used by Organizing for Action.

The hackers added that none of the email had two-factor authentication enabled on them, so it was easy to hack and use them.

Syrian Electronic Army has been hacking high profile media and Financial giants since the beginning of Syrian conflict. However, this is the first time when the hackers have directly targeted Obama.
