Portable Document Format (PDF) is already by default one of the best formats when it comes to documents. The reasons are simple. One of them is that you can access your documents easily from pretty much any device and software, but you know how things usually go in technology: there’s always room for improvements.
Keeping your files as PDFs is a great idea, but you may need to do something more to achieve even more productivity. Your files could be too large; you may have a PDF for each chapter from your book, and so on. You need to use certain ‘tricks’ on your PDFs to get the best out of your work. Here’s what you can do:
Merge PDF
For merging smaller PDFs into bigger ones, the first step is to head over to getlua.com. The Lua app allows you to merge PDFs in only a few seconds without having to install any software on your device.

You can use any gadget that can open a browser, and the app will even delete the files from its servers shortly after you’ve uploaded them. Once you’re on the getlua.com main page, the rest is simple and deductible:
- Choose the ‘Merge PDF’ option.
- Drag and drop your files directly from your device.
- Wait a few moments for the combining process to do its job.
- Download the resulting PDF file!
Compress PDF
Let’s suppose you want to send a PDF to a friend with your book, but there are plenty of platforms that impose size limits for sharing files. In that case, you can head over to Lua (getlua.com) once again and choose the ‘Compress PDF’ option once you’ve loaded the main page. The rest is also like a walk in the park:
Drag and drop the file you wish to compress.
Wait a few seconds for the app to do its thing.
Download the freshly compressed file!
Convert files to PDF
There are plenty of online apps that you can use to convert other file types into PDF, including Lua. You can also use freepdfconvert.com, which is at least as good as the Lua software. If you’ve chosen the first option, simply scroll down a bit, and you’ll find all converting options widely exposed.
You can choose to convert Word, PowerPoint, Excel to PDF, and so on. Once you’ve made your choice, you’ll be prompted to upload the file you need to be converted. Wait a few moments for the entire process to finish, and that’s all!
Add pictures to your PDF
PDFs with pictures are much more reliable and offer a more pleasant experience for those who open them. We recommend Adobe Acrobat for adding images to PDFs, as it will be very simple. Just open a document, select Tools > Content Editing > Edit Text & Images or Add Images. You’ll immediately find a bunch of intuitive controls.
Search PDFs for anything you need to find
Our recommendation in this area is Adobe’s Reader app. It’s free of charge, and it includes impressive functionalities when it comes to searching within PDFs. You have to click on Edit, go to Advanced Search, open the Full Reader Search option, and then sort by specific text, interactive lists, and so on.

Once again, we must insist that the Lua app present at getlua.com is a very handy tool when it comes to manipulating PDF! Lua offers support for a lot of devices that are able to open webpages in a browser, whether we’re talking about laptops, desktop computers, smartphones, or tablets. Even if you have an obsolete PC that can barely load web pages with 1GB of RAM, it won’t be a problem for Lua!
