Transmission of Pakistani news channel interrupted to display Indian flag

Prominent Pakistani news channel Dawn had its transmission hacked amid commercial break on Sunday.

One of the leading Pakistan News Channels, Dawn, was reportedly targeted by Indian hackers. The disruption occurred around 3:30 pm on Sunday, August 2nd, where hackers displayed the Indian flag and a ‘Happy Independence Day’ message on the screen during a commercial break.

The incident has sparked outrage on social media with Dawn news looking into the matter fervently.

Regarding the incident, Dawn reports that they were broadcasting news and advertisement as usual when the interruption ensued totally out of the box. The media giant issued a statement, which mentioned that the Indian tricolor and message interrupted the transmission and remained there for a while before disappearing.

“Dawn News is investigating the sudden broadcast of Indian flags and Happy Independence Day text on its screen.”

A staunch investigation is in pursuits by the media agency with hopes to keep viewers informed about any developments in the matter.

Previously the Director-General of Public Relations of Pakistan administrated Kashmir website was also hacked with pro-Indian messages.

Nevertheless, this is not the first time when hackers have used a TV channel to show off their skills. In the past, Israeli private news channels “Channel 2 and Channel 10” had their transmission hacked and interrupted with Muslims’ call to prayer.

In another incident, Palestinian hackers were able to interrupt the satellite communication of the Channel 10 TV station in Israel and display images of Palestinian citizens affected and wounded by Israeli airstrikes over the Gaza Strip.
