Pro-ISIS group hacks Ohio Governor’ site with anti-Trump message

Team System DZ, a pro-ISIS (Daesh) hacking group from Algeria is back in the news. This time the group has targeted the government of United States and defaced several Ohio State websites including the official website of Governor John Kasich.

The hackers left a deface page along with a pro-ISIS message on all hacked websites threatening the President of United States Donald Trump for his policies against Muslims.

According to the deface message left by the group:

“You will be held accountable Trump, you and all your people for every drop of blood flowing from Muslim countries,” read the message on the Republican’s homepage, which also carried a black background and the message, “I love Islamic state.”

Other than Kasich’s, several other state government websites were also defaced by the group and left with the above-mentioned message. Those sites include the state InspectorGeneral, the Office of Workforce Transformation, the Office of Facilities and Construction Commission and LeanOhio, the Office of Health Transformation, the Casino Control Commission and Ohio Department of Medicaid.

Links to all targeted websites along with their Zone-h links as a proof of hack are available here.

On their Facebook page, the group defended its action in following words:

“Are cowards who kill children and women in Arab countries with planes and tanks? Or who hacked the sites to reach the message? If this is cheese, then wait for what we wrote in the letter to know who the coward is, the garbage of society, the people and the government of America.”

At the time of publishing this article, all targeted sites were restored while the Governor John Kasich website was down for maintenance. HackRead was able to grab a screenshot displaying the following message:

“Website Under Maintenance – The website is currently down for maintenance. Please standby for further updates.”

This is not the first time when Team System DZ has successfully hacked into high-profile websites of the government of United States. Previously, the group hacked Richland County Sheriffs Department (more info on the hack available here), Richland County Veterans Services website (more info on the hack available here), University of Toronto Website (more info on the hack available here), Richland County (Wisconsin) Sheriffs Dept. Website (more info on the hack available here) and Isle of Wight, Virginia website (more info on the hack available here).
